Teachers’ Day: 10 things to know about India’s ‘philosopher President’ Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

1) Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is on 5 September 1888 in a poor Brahmin family in Tiruttani of Tamil Nadu, a city in the presidency of Madras alors.

The old Indian cricket player VVS Laxman is the great grand-neveu of Dr. Radhakrishnan.

5) Avant d’occuper vice-présidence in 1952, Radhakrishnan to été nommé ambassadeur à l’UNESCO in 1946 puis à l’Union soviétique.

Il a été élu president of the République d’Inde in 1962. The British philosopher and laureate du prix Nobel Bertrand Russel in his stated statement:

“It is an honor to the philosophy that Dr. Radhakrishnan well the president of India and that he, in that philosophe, prends a great pleasure to cet égard.
